London, November 2015

The third Kudos International Network annual conference was held at the Holiday Inn, Regents Park, London on 17 and 18 November 2015. Once again, the increasing membership was highlighted by the resulting increase in attendees at the conference. The newer members added considerable value to the discussions held during the conference.

We commenced on the Tuesday morning with a session led by Michael Scott, who took the delegates through the growth of Kudos during 2015, welcoming new members into the network, as well as briefing delegates on the new ‘associate’ membership category. Plans for 2016 were discussed, including the updating of Kudos technical material.

Bruce Eastman of ACCA Global then briefed the delegates on the global audit regulatory picture, looking at how different regulatory models were used in different countries.

On Tuesday afternoon, delegates were entertained and informed by Gordon Gilchrist from 2020 Innovation, who discussed marketing techniques and how the Kudos brand could be used to their benefit by member firms.

On Tuesday evening delegates gathered at the hotel reception to be taken on a short guided bus tour of London, en route to dinner on the 38th floor of 30 St Mary’s Axe, better known as the Gherkin. Before settling down to a superb three course meal, attendees were welcomed with a Champagne reception and were treated to some panoramic views of London.

On Wednesday morning, following a short technical update given by Alun Morgan, we had a presentation on the Forum of Firms. The session was led by Brian Smith, secretary of the Forum of Firms. Delegates were grateful of the opportunity to learn more about the background of the Forum of Firms that Kudos are proud members of.

The conference itself closed with lunch, but not until a further discussion was led by Alun Morgan on using the Kudos brand more effectively by using network membership more visibly in practice branding. A brief discussion was also held on the 2016 conference. On Wednesday evening those delegates who were not leaving for their flights home until the following day attended the Barclays World ATP Tennis Tour Finals at the magnificent O2 area to round off an excellent conference.
